Marcel Ebner

Marcel Ebner has worked more than five years as a developer and consultant for Business Intelligence Solutions based on the Microsoft SQL server platform. He is a senior consultant at ixto GmbH, where the main focus of his work is on the design and implementation of data warehouse systems and the creation of reporting portals using SQL server analysis and reporting services. Marcel Ebner previously shared joint responsibility for the creation and design of information systems for the local authorities in Salzgitter and Constance, which has given him many years’ experience in Business Intelligence projects.

Example 1

In this example, the “information density" – see Condense – is shown in a clear and transparent manner. Instead of showing several charts in succession (for the different household types), the viewer is provided with a quick initial overview.

This example was created using the Reporting Services (SSRS) of the SQL Server in the 2008 version.

   

Example 2

Here a simple deviation table with absolute numerical values is expanded to include quickly understood graphical elements. Deviation bars in red for reductions and green for increases help to quickly identify what the tops and flops are in a comparison with the previous year. Moreover, in the last column MicroChartshelp to show the course of the individual products during the last twelve months.

This example was created with the Reporting Services (SSRS) of the SQL Server in the 2005 version. MicroChart is a component developed – for older SQL Server versions – which has meanwhile been integrated into the 2008 R2 version.
