Management Reports, in particular:

+ Texts

+ Tables

+ Charts

+ Graphs

+ Organizational Elements

Charts are often used for a visual comparison of numbers. The intent behind these charts is for people to comprehend interrelations by seeing them. Tables, on the other hand, can only be understood when they are read.

Here we present approaches to systematizing business charts.

Poorly chosen chart types and the wrong design of charts are the most common weaknesses found in reports and presentations - see the various examples from the Chamber of Horrors on the left.

And now to our  Chamber of Horrors for:

Graphs

Chamber of Horrors for Graphs:

+ Rings
+ Circles

+ Pies

+ Spiders

+ Spaghettis

+ Lies

+ Strips

The 6x6 tableau above is an attempt to systematize basic chart types most often used in management reports.

Please also refer to the example exhibits: An exhibit is more than a chart - there is always a message, an understandable title, and - when possible - highlighting of the message.

... and have a look at the Chart Chamber of Horrors. A lot of rooms are already occupied there ...
