In an increasing number of annual reports a great deal of effort is being put into transforming the reality behind the figures into circles or pie wedges, spider charts, rings, and other graphic visualizations which are equally ill-suited for quick comprehension. 

Unfortunately, the case is no different at many major companies either: The following is a random selection of what shareholders have to put up with: decoration instead of information...

Rings are not a particularly appropriate form of graphical analysis concentric rings don’t make things any better. If the labeling of the segments is only visible upon mouse-over, as is the case here, the headline also is missing.
