4 Ensure Quality
The CHECK rule group concerns the quality of the content to be conveyed. The content conveyed in reports and presentations should be correct and significant. This is broken down here into four elements that pose a particular challenge in actual practice.

   

4.1

Check data: Useful information

The content, in other words available data, concerns the question of its relevance, correctness, and accuracy. The basic data used for reports and presentations should be relevant, in other words current and related to the subject. Obviously the measures and given dimensions should be correct. Select objects: Suited display

When creating reports and presentations, it is necessary to decide just how appropriate the objects such as tables, charts or texts are. Check visualization: Correct chart type

Some chart types are more suited to visualize the messages to be conveyed and other are less suited. Several chart types are basically unsuited; others should only be used for specific tasks. Rule 4.3.5 is shown on the left as an illustration. More...

Check scaling: No manipulation

Charts serve as a visual means to compare numerical values. But when incorrect scaling is chosen, these displays are unsuitable to explain actual interrelations or manage to do so only to a limited extent. Rule 4.4.2 is shown on the left as an illustration. More...
