Plan introduction
This pertains to the rules for planning a SUCCESS project which are not much different than for planning other projects: Particular emphasis is placed here on management support, alternative solutions, and prototyping.
5.2.1
Start from the top of the organization
Since this involves creating and implementing uniform rules of communication, to ensure company-wide success it is essential for all departments to work according to a concept that is uniform in all departments and binding for all. Of course, this applies above all to UNIFY.
5.2.2
Present alternatives, let senior management decide
Understandably, senior management will be more likely to stand behind a concept if they have been given a chance to participate in it, even if this only involves selecting from two or more proposed solutions.
5.2.3
Involve people in charge of IT
Success in implementing the SUCCESS concept greatly depends on the deployment of suitable software tools. For example, it is only possible to apply standardized templates for charts, tables, and graphs company-wide if the necessary infrastructure is already in place.
5.2.4
Involve people in charge of corporate design
In many companies, business communication in the form of reports and presentations is decisively influenced by those responsible for corporate design. Since a few of the rules addressed in SUCCESS also pertain to visual design, they affect at the very least the interests of corporate design.
5.2.5
Plan roll-out in defined steps
As in all such processes of change, success is primarily then guaranteed when work is carried out within the framework of a clearly defined project and the steps planned in detail. Local sub-projects or efforts on the part of individual persons can bring about improvements to a certain extent, but they will not lead to a company-wide radical change in the layout of reports and presentations.
5.2.6
Use prototyping to prove usability
Just like today in most IT projects people work with prototypes, the SUCCESS concept can be gradually extended to cover further professional content as well as areas of organization.
